Thanksgiving Meeting 11/27/19

Thanksgiving Fun!

Written By: Nina Lydon

Our Thanksgiving meeting 2019 was one for the books.
The moment you stepped into our meeting room you could tell it was going to be a fun day. With our laid back meeting style we had plenty of time to catch up, chat with one another and play a fun trivia style game. It was always fun to see who held what knowledge whenever a particularly unusual question would come up. (Did YOU know that a baby is born every three seconds?)

After our game we dove into making an apple pie. The ingredients were separated and laid out at different stations. Once the sugar and flour started flying..... that is when the fun began. There is something so exciting about digging your hands into flour and watching a recipe come to life. Seeing the tart green apple and sweet brown sugar combined into one pretty little pie was nothing short of heavenly.

Thanksgiving has always been my favorite holiday. Ever since I was a child I would wake up giddy on thanksgiving ready to spend the whole day in the kitchen cooking up a fabulous meal to share with our family. I love the idea that we can take a day to stop the busyness and simply be thankful for what we have. After becoming a mom,  I realized that life kind of takes you on this roller coaster ride.  Some points might feel slower than others, some points feel impossible to get through, but the ride does not stop moving forward until it’s over. So on this crazy and chaotic ride of motherhood, with life busier than ever, it does us good to slow down and appreciate what we have right in front of us.

So after hours of cooking my family would sit around the table and each share what we are thankful for. This year I invite you to do the same, what are you thankful or grateful for this year?
Webster’s definition of grateful is as follows: expressing gratitude, appreciative, feeling pleased by comfort supplied or discomfort alleviated. Wow, that last one hit me square in the chest..... discomfort alleviated. How many comforts have we been afforded this year and every year. We are so very blessed.

So as we enter the busiest of Holliday seasons let us carry the spirit of thanksgiving with us. Let it be the heartbeat that underlies everything we do, everyone we speak to, every moment that passes. Let us remember to be thankful.
